COD Set-Up MD50

The Lovibond® MD50 COD Set-Up brings together everything needed for routine Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) testing in one convenient package. Combining the MD50 photometer with ready-to-use ST-COD tube tests, a digestion reactor and essential accessories, it provides a straightforward solution for measuring COD in a wide range of water samples.

With the introduction of Very Low Range (VLR) COD measurement, concentrations can be measured from just 2 mg/L, extending COD analysis to applications where greater sensitivity is required for low-pollution water samples.

Suitable for laboratories, industrial facilities and environmental monitoring, the MD50 COD Set-Up provides a complete solution for efficient, repeatable COD analysis.

Simple, Reliable COD Testing

The MD50 COD Set-Up uses the established sealed-tube method to simplify routine COD analysis and minimise sample handling. Simply add the water sample to a Lovibond® ST-COD tube, digest at 150 °C for two hours, then measure the prepared sample using the MD50 photometer.

Ready-to-use, prefilled ST-COD tubes make sample preparation straightforward and help reduce handling and the potential for operator error. The MD50 then uses photometric measurement to determine the COD concentration, providing consistent results for routine water quality monitoring.

The combination of prefilled reagents, controlled digestion and photometric analysis creates a straightforward workflow suitable for regular laboratory and field-based testing.

Flexible Measurement Across Different Water Samples

Lovibond® ST-COD tube tests are available in multiple measuring ranges, allowing the appropriate method to be selected for different sample types and expected COD concentrations.

For samples containing chloride, selected methods incorporate chemistry designed to suppress chloride interference. This provides interference suppression up to 1,000 mg/L chloride for Low and Medium Range methods and up to 10,000 mg/L for the High Range method.

Mercury-free ST-COD tube tests are also available for applications where chloride interference is not present, providing an alternative option for suitable water samples.
